The police spokesperson issued a statement saying that last year more than 30 persons have been arrested for buying mobile SIM cards in their name and handing them to the terrorists for illegal activities.

The spokesperson has urged the common people to be alert in relation to the SIM card issued in his name. He said that anyone who misuses SIM card for terror or organized crime will have to suffer strict legal consequences.
The state investigating agency and the district police units take strict action against such violations. Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Police has intensified efforts to prevent the misuse of SIM cards by terrorists and criminal elements.

The SIM card vendors have been asked to strictly compliance with the No Your Customer (KYC) criteria. Along with this, extensive inspections have been conducted in relation to SIM cards in many districts including Srinagar, Ganderbal, Anantnag, Bargam, Pulwama, Shopian, Bandipora, Samba and Kishtwar.
The purpose of these measures is to issue SIM cards in an unauthorized manner, prevent its misuse, maintain the security of communication network and integrity. The Jammu and Kashmir Police is committed to public security. The police will continue measures to prevent exploitation of communication network by anti -nation and criminal elements.
