Prayagraj: As Mahashivratri unfolded, the sacred precincts of Triveni witnessed a majestic convergence of devotees, who thronged the hallowed confluence of Ganga, Yamuna, and the mystical Saraswati to partake in the purifying ritual of holy dips. Concurrently, Shiv temples resonated with the fervent chants of worshippers, who gathered to perform the sacred ‘Jalabhishek’.Temples like Mankameshwar, Padila Mahadev, and Someshwar Mahadev were buzzing with devotees from near and far, all eager to offer prayers and perform rituals. To ensure the smooth conduct of these sacred proceedings, the police administration implemented stringent security measures at all major temples.The city was immersed in devotion, with people flocking to Shiv temples since ‘Brahma Muhurta’. Post-Triveni dip, pilgrims headed to temples like Mankameshwar, offering ‘Jalabhishek’ to Lord Shiv.The revered Brahmeshwar Mahadev Temple of Daraganj, mentioned in the Puranas as the first Shiv temple of the universe, also witnessed an overwhelming influx of devotees. The spiritual vibe was on at Shivkuti’s Koteshwar Mahadev Temple, Brahmeshwar Mahadev Temple, and Civil Lines’ Lord Shiva temple, with devotees performing rituals post-Ganga dip.A similar spiritual ambience prevailed at Arail’s ghats, where devotees prayed to Lord Shiva at Someshwar Mahadev Temple. With an estimated turnout of over 30 lakh devotees for the final bathing ritual of Magh Mela 2026, the mela and police administration ensured robust security arrangements.Paramilitary forces, along with the police, were deployed at all major Shiva temples to manage the massive influx of worshippers. Amidst this grand spiritual spectacle, devotees departed for their respective destinations after offering prayers with devotion and ease.
