Jaipur: People gathered in large numbers at and around Jal Mahal Lake Sunday to watch the Indian Air Force‘s Suryakiran and Sarang teams perform an aerobatic air show. Around 1 lakh people reportedly witnessed the air show, many of them from roofs of nearby buildings.The Sarang team, with 5 ‘Dhruv’ Advanced Light Helicopters (ALHs), started the show with an “I” formation representing India, while the Suryakiran team, with its 9 red-and-white Hawk Mk-132 jets, entered with the Tejas formation, drawing cheers from the crowd.The helicopters made formations such as the cross, dolphin, and double cross. In their final performance, the Sarang team saluted Jaipur with 5 helicopters blazing a trail of red in the sky. Helicopters of the Sarang team flew at a distance of 10 metres from each other for some of the maneuvers, ensuring that all eyes were glued to the sky.The Suryakiran team surprised the audience with BrahMos missile, heart formations, and a cross formation which looked like a high five in the sky, with barely 5 metres’ distance between the aircraft.The aircraft performed aerobatics in various formations at altitudes ranging from 100 feet to 1,000 feet. The Suryakiran team displayed a glimpse of the tricolour in the final formation.Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, who attended the air show, said, “Having an air show in Jaipur is a matter of pride for our city. It will inspire our youth and encourage them to join the armed forces. Three pilots in the Suryakiran team are from Jaipur, which is a matter of pride for our city.”Governor Haribhau Bagde and deputy chief minister Diya Kumari also attended the air show.The governor said, “I am proud to be present at this event at Jal Mahal with the Suryakiran and Sarang teams representing the courage of the Indian Air Force.”
