Indian players have returned home after winning the Champions Trophy and now the focus is at IPL 2025, starting March 22. This time many teams will be seen to be changed, but Delhi Capitals have not announced their captain yet. Former captain Rishabh Pant is now part of the Lucknow Supergiant, from which Akshar Patel and KL Rahul are the major contenders as the new captain.
Rahul was captaining Lucknow till the last session, while Akshar has been associated with Delhi Capitals for the last seven years. The Delhi team will camp in Visakhapatnam on 17-18 March. It is likely that Rahul may stay out of the first two matches, as his wife Athiya Shetty’s possible date for becoming a mother is those days. Akshar Patel is considered a strong contender to handle the leadership of Delhi, while Rahul has the experience of captaincy of Punjab and Lucknow Supergiants. The franchise may soon announce the new captain.
