Bengaluru: Lokayukta sleuths Thursday caught a police inspector while he was accepting Rs 4-lakh bribe from a builder, booked in a cheating case. The accused, Govindaraju of KP Agrahara police station, received the money from Mohammed Akbar at CAR grounds in Chamarajpet when Lokayukta police intercepted him at 4.30pm. Govindaraju arrived there in khaki uniform and in his official police jeep.
According to Lokayukta, Govindaraju had demanded Rs 5 lakh in cash from Akbar and received Rs 1-lakh advance on Jan 24. Govindaraju called Akbar later and directed him to pay the balance at CAR grounds Thursday. āNot willing to pay the money, Akbar filed a complaint with us,ā Lokayukta police said. According to Akbar, Govindaraju booked him and three others on charges of cheating two individuals of money, and asked for the bribe to drop his name from the case. Ex-KIADB official raidedLokayukta police Thursday raided former Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) official Tejesh Kumar N after registering a disproportionate assets case against him. Lokayukta police said properties worth of Rs 26.5 crore were found during the raids at four sites, eight houses, 14 acres of agricultural land.
