Hyderabad: A two-month-old baby boy was allegedly killed by his mother at a construction workers’ camp in Bowrampet on Tuesday morning.Police said Rajendra Adivasi (21) and his wife Mamata Ahirwar (20), natives of Madhya Pradesh, were working as labourers at the Sanarelli Apartments construction site in Bowrampet and living in a temporary camp room there with their infant son. The incident came to light when Rajendra returned around the afternoon and allegedly found his wife burning the baby in a wood-fired stove. He tried to intervene, but the child had already died, police said. “Probe shows that Mamata was distressed as the baby cried frequently and decided to kill him. She first stuffed cloth into the infant’s mouth to stop the crying, tied his legs, and then placed him on the stove, leading to the child’s death on the spot,” said Ch Shankar Reddy, ACP, Medchal. On receiving information, police rushed to the spot and took custody of the body. A case was registered under BNS section 103 (murder), and the accused woman was taken into custody. Police said investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident. tnn
