Indian Railway News: Ner technology is getting direction and pace for trains across the country, hub of Gorakhpur’s signal workshop

Gorakhpur. Due to the technology of North Eastern Railway (NER), trains across the country are getting direction and speed. Headquarters Gorakhpur’s signal workshop (factory) has become a hub of electric point machine and signaling relay.

The supply of point machine and signaling relay has started in all zones of Indian Railways with signal workshop at Gorakhpur Cantonment (Cant). With the increase in demand, signal workshop management has also increased the production of point machine and signaling relay.

In the financial year 2024-25, a record 3695 point machine and 35200 signal relay have been prepared in the signal workshop. In the financial year 2025-26, a target is to produce about four thousand point machines and 50 thousand signal relay.

When the signal workshop was rejuvenated, a large -scale electric point machine and signaling relay started to be made from Kovidal. In the year 2021-22, 1696 points and 21000 signaling relay were produced. Apart from the Northeast Railway, six zones including Northern Railway, North Central Railway, Eastern Railway, South Central Railway and Central Railway were supplied by electric point machines and signal relay.

When the demand increased at the Indian railway level, the record 2692 electric point machines and 30742 signaling relay were produced in the year 2022, which was sent to eight zones including the Northeast Railway.

In the year 2025, Gorakhpur workshop has become the main producing center of electric point machine and signaling relay.

In addition to the high -tech electric point machine and signaling relay built in Gorakhpur workshop, besides North Eastern Railway, there is a beginning to take place in Eastern Railway, Western Railway, Northern Railway, South Railway, Central Railway, North Central Railway, East Central Railway, West Central Railway, South Central Railway, South Central Railway, South Central Railway, South East Railway, South Western Railway, Northwest Railway and East Railway. Trains of these zones, including the Northeast Railway, have started running at a maximum speed of 110 to 130 kmph.

Electric point machines have also been installed on the loop lines of 505 stations of the Northeast Railway, due to which the speed of trains in the station yard has increased from 15 to 30 km per hour. Electric point machines are used to change tracks. Point machines operate trains from one to another.

Trains get signals from signaling relay. Apart from electric point machine and signaling relay in the signal factory, modern lifting barriers on the level of level are also being formed. Workshop has also received ISO certificate. The signal workshop of the Northeast Railway was established on 10 November 1944. In November 1958, it was shifted to Gorakhpur Cantt.
