Hyderabad: City-based Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) will launch three new ocean information services on its foundation day on Monday (Feb 9), along with signing Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with partner institutions, officials said. The three services — JellyAIIP, SAMUDRA 2.0 Mobile App, and SIVAS — are aimed at widening access to ocean advisories for citizens and coastal users, INCOIS stated.JellyAIIP (Jellyfish Aggregation Information Interactive Portal) is a national web-based platform for reporting and visualising jellyfish aggregation, swarming, and stranding events along the Indian coast. INCOIS said the portal will offer geospatial mapping, hotspot analysis, and multilingual first-aid guidance, helping local authorities, fishermen, swimmers, and beachgoers respond effectively to such events.INCOIS will also launch SAMUDRA 2.0, an upgraded multilingual mobile advisory platform to deliver ocean information and early warnings to fishermen and maritime users. The institute said the updated app will expand services to include Potential Fishing Zone (PFZ) information, TUNA advisories, and Small Vessel alerts, with improved map-based features.SIVAS (Swell-Surge Inundation Vulnerability Advisory System) is a coastal inundation early warning service intended to provide advance alerts on swell-surge flooding events. INCOIS said it is currently operational for the Kerala coast and will issue multilingual forecast bulletins.
