IMFL worth Rs 4L seized from BSRTC bus, 2 held
In a striking operation, Patna authorities intercepted a BSRTC bus and confiscated Indian Made Foreign Liquor worth Rs4 lakh. The driver and conductor were apprehended while allegedly smuggling the illicit cargo from Ranchi to Muzaffarpur, cleverly using public transport as a cover. Investigations are ongoing to uncover any additional smuggling networks involved in this case.

Patna: Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) worth Rs4 lakh was seized from a Bihar State Road Transport Corporation (BSRTC) bus in the Daniyawan police station area of Patna district on Wednesday. Police arrested the bus driver and conductor, and recovered 282 bottles of IMFL from the vehicle. The duo was allegedly transporting the liquor in the bus from Ranchi to Muzaffarpur to evade suspicion, officials said.According to police, the arrested driver has been identified as Dharamjit, a resident of Vaishali, and the conductor as Manoj Kumar, a resident of Motihari. Investigation revealed that both were working on a contract basis for BSRTC. The bus was intercepted near Horil Bigha village after Daniyawan police received a tip-off and launched a search.Daniyawan SHO Anil Prasad said, “We received information that liquor was being smuggled through a BSRTC bus. Acting on the input, the police team conducted a checking drive near Horil Bigha village in the morning. As soon as the suspicious bus arrived, we stopped it and carried out a search.”He further said that police are probing who instructed the accused to transport the liquor, and who else may be involved, and whether other transport corporation employees are part of the racket. “A case has been registered against both under the prohibition law, and further legal proceedings are underway,” he added.
