IMFL worth 1.35cr hidden behind bubble wrap seized

Vadodara: In one of the largest liquor hauls in recent times, Dahod police seized Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) worth Rs 1.35 crore on the Indore-Ahmedabad highway on Tuesday night. Two persons were arrested for the seizure.The local crime branch (LCB) of Dahod police intercepted a truck registered in Madhya Pradesh after getting a tip-off about liquor being brought into the state. The informers had provided the truck’s registration number and that it had crossed the Khangela state border check post en route to Godhra.The truck, driven by Devendra Songara (38) with Rakesh Gajrat (27) as the cleaner, was carrying 814 cartons of IMFL hidden behind rolls of bubble wrap. Police seized 33,066 bottles, valued at Rs 1.35 crore.The authorities also seized the truck, worth Rs 20 lakh, the mobile phones of the driver and cleaner, and the bubble wrap rolls, bringing the value of the seizure to Rs 1.56 crore.
