IMD issues rain alert for 24 districts on Jan 28; night temp to dip in 48 hours

Patna: A brief spell of mild weather in Bihar is set to break as India Meteorological Department (IMD), Patna, on Sunday issued an alert of rain for 24 districts on Jan 28, with West Champaran, East Champaran, Gopalganj, Sitamarhi and Sheohar likely to witness thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds.According to the IMD bulletin, a western disturbance is currently moving across Jammu, Himachal Pradesh and Punjab, bringing weather changes and high-altitude winds in the state. Another circulation persists over central Uttar Pradesh, accompanied by strong upper-level winds over Northeast India. Two additional disturbances are also expected — one on Monday and another on the night of Jan 30.For the next three days, the weather across Bihar is likely to remain dry, though light rain may occur in parts of the northern and south-western regions thereafter. Day temperatures are expected to remain steady, but nights will turn colder as minimum temperatures are projected to drop by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius over the next 48 hours before rising again later in the week.The weather remained dry across the state over the past 24 hours with no major change in daytime conditions. Sabour in Bhagalpur recorded the lowest minimum temperature at 9.6°C, while Kaimur registered the highest maximum temperature at 27.1°C.
