Gurgaon: In a crackdown on illegal real estate activity, the department of town and country planning (DTCP) demolished unauthorised colonies spread over 8.5 acres across the city, officials said on Friday.

The action, carried out with police support, is part of an ongoing drive to curb unplanned urbanisation and prevent the sale of illegal plots.Officials said the first phase of demolition was conducted on Jan 14 in the urban area of Pataudi. Two unauthorised colonies were targeted. In the revenue estate of village Khor, an illegal colony spread over 4 acres was razed, with enforcement teams demolishing 15 damp-proof courses, five boundary walls and the internal earthen road network.

On the same day, another unauthorised colony measuring 1 acre in village Gheelanwas was cleared, where three DPCs, two boundary walls and internal roads were demolished.The second phase was carried out on Jan 16 in the urban area of Farukhnagar. Officials said unauthorised colonies spread over 3.5 acres in the revenue estates of villages Sultanpur and Jurola were demolished. During the operation, teams removed 12 DPCs, six boundary walls and the entire internal road network developed without approvals.DTCP officials said police deployment ensured smooth execution of the drive.
