Kolkata: In a significant collaboration between three institutes of national importance, IIT-Kharagpur signed an MoU with the Variable Energy Cyclotron Centre (VECC) and Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute (CNCI) to launch MSc programmes in nuclear medicine and medical physics from 2026-27 session. These courses will strengthen cancer diagnosis, treatment, and advanced clinical research in the country.For both the courses—to be offered by IIT Kharagpur’s School of Medical Science and Technology—the students’ strength will be 10 each. “The institute also envisions developing advanced healthcare facilities at Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee Super Speciality Hospital , including day-care chemotherapy, advanced radiology services, and AI-driven cancer technologies,” reads the institute’s statement. Students will have to appear for Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM) for admission. Suman Chakraborty, director, IIT-Kgp, Jayanta Chakrabarti, director, CNCI, and Sumit Som, director, VECC, signed the pact.
