IIT Gandhinagar develops AI framework for pollen image classification

A team at IIT Gandhinagar (IIT-Gn) has developed the Medicinal Pollen and Palynology SEM Database (MPalyn), an innovative, open-access, web-based application that systematically organises high-resolution pollen images and associated taxonomic data. The researchers emphasized that this advanced computer vision framework provides a reproducible and adaptable solution for automated pollen analysis, significantly improving computational speed and accuracy while drastically minimising the traditional reliance on labour-intensive manual annotation. By bridging the gap between botany and technology, it has vital applications in precision agriculture, allergy medicine, and large-scale biodiversity monitoring. The platform serves as a critical resource for scientists globally to share and access microscopic data seamlessly.Training session for first-time ministers Speaker Shankar Chaudhary presided over a day-long training session for first-time ministers in the Bhupendra Patel govt on the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) at the Gujarat assembly on Tuesday. Chaudhary said that Gujarat was at the forefront of adopting technology, and that all the work of the Gujarat Vidhan Sabha was made online. He added that arrangements were made for ministers to reply to questions in a “paperless manner” by using the NeVA platform. Budget session of the Gujarat Assembly begins on Feb 16.
