IIT-BHU’s annual socio-awareness fest ‘Jagriti’ from today

Varanasi: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), BHU will host its annual socio-awareness festival Jagriti from Feb 6 to 8. Organised under the aegis of the Social Service Council (SSC), IIT-BHU’s Jagriti is a flagship initiative to foster social consciousness, civic responsibility, and youth-led dialogue on pressing societal issues.

Councillor of SSC Suresh Dhoble said that Jagriti 2026 will feature a diverse range of competitions, interactive events, exhibitions, and awareness-driven activities, each addressing key challenges faced by society today. These initiatives aim to encourage critical thinking, empathy, and the development of actionable solutions among students as well as the wider community. He further highlighted that a major attraction this year will be the Social Awareness Tunnel being set up at Rajputana Ground. This immersive installation is designed to sensitise visitors about social realities through impactful visuals, narratives, and creative installations. The tunnel seeks to engage attendees both emotionally and intellectually, making social issues more tangible and relatable.The fest will also host an inspiring guest talk series, featuring distinguished personalities from diverse fields. including Group Captain Angad Pratap, Astronaut Delegate and Indian Air Force Test Pilot; Sonal Goel, IAS, Secretary, govt of Tripura; Mohit Tyagi, Educator and Entrepreneur; Captain Akhilesh Saxena, Kargil War Veteran; and Kiran Bedi, India’s first woman IPS officer.
