HYDERABAD: A 38-year-old software engineer and her two teenage children died after jumping in front of a train near Cherlapally in a suspected suicide pact early Saturday.The deceased were identified as P Vijaya (38), Chetana Reddy (18) and Vishal Reddy (17), residents of Harithavanam Colony in Boduppal.According to a complaint filed by deputy station superintendent of Cherlapally railway station, T Jyothi, loco pilot Sushain Mahto of a Sanathnagar-bound goods alerted railway authorities after he saw the trio crushed to death around 12.40am.Secunderabad Govt Railway Police (GRP) inspector B Saieashwar Goud rushed to the spot with his team and confirmed the deaths. “Preliminary evidence indicates the victims died by suicide. The precise motive is still under investigation,” he said.Police found Vijaya’s parked car near Cherlapally railway station and recovered a suicide note purportedly written by her. In the note addressed to her mother, she wrote that she did not like her life despite trying hard. “I can’t leave the children, so I am taking them and going. No one is responsible for this,” a railway police officer said, quoting the note.
‘Personal reasons suspected’
Police said Vijaya worked with a private firm near Hi-Tec City and her children were Intermediate students. Her husband Surender Reddy was employed with a Dubai-based company and rushed back to Hyderabad after getting the news. GRP registered a case under BNSS Section 194 (suspicious death). The bodies were shifted to Gandhi Hospital for autopsy. “The family does not have financial problems. We suspect that personal reasons could be the motive. We are recording the statements of family members,” police said.
