Lucknow: Residents woke up to overcast skies on Wednesday, with drizzle in several parts of the city. The clouds gave way to sunshine later in the day, pushing up humidity levels and making the weather uncomfortable. But humidity gave way to late evening downpour.Drizzle was reported in Hazratganj, Dubagga, Kursi Road and some areas on the outskirts in the morning. The sky remained partly cloudy in the afternoon, with sunshine appearing at intervals. The combination of sunshine and high humidity made the weather feel warmer than the recorded temperature. The city, however, received good rainfall over the past three to four days, providing some relief from the heat and significant increase in rainfall deficit.The maximum temperature in the city was 32.8 degrees Celsius, marginally below normal, while the minimum temperature was 27 degrees Celsius, 1.6 unit above normal. Relative humidity remained high, ranging from 94% to 70%, with rainfall recorded in traces during the day. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast partly cloudy skies in the city on Thursday, with the possibility of light rain. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 34 and 27 degrees Celsius, respectively.Senior scientist at Regional Meteorological Centre, Lucknow, Mohammad Danish, informed, “An area of low pressure over Jharkhand is likely to move towards UP, bringing more rain to the state. The system, along with the active monsoon winds, is likely to cause heavy rain till Aug 22. Southern parts of the state may receive very heavy rain during the next two days.Across the state, Barabanki recorded the highest rainfall at 101 mm, followed by Hamirpur with 20 mm and Prayagraj with 18.8 mm.Met officials forecast rain and thundershowers at some places in West and East UP.
