Kanpur: Ajit (35) and his wife, Priyanka (32), natives of Babail village in Panipat district of Haryana, undertook a 951km foot march with their five-year-old daughter to spread awareness about cattle conservation and the construction of cowsheds in every village. On Jan 26, the couple reached Unnao. The couple started their journey from Panipat on Jan 5, 2026, and aimed to reach the Shri Gorakhnath temple in Gorakhpur on foot by Feb 10.Nawabganj outpost in-charge Mukul Dubey and constable Anoop Dubey provided them with security and helped them cross the toll plaza. Ajit said road accidents were increasing across the country due to stray cattle wandering on roads. He said that in the past year, several accidents related to cattle were recorded, in which dozens of people were injured or died. He also expressed concern over increasing cruelty towards cattle.According to Ajit, if a cowshed was constructed in every village, these animals would remain safe and would get proper arrangements for fodder and water. He said this would also benefit farmers.Priyanka called this journey an awareness campaign. She said they passed through more than 200 villages in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh so far. She appealed to villagers for the construction of cowsheds at the local level and urged them to take advantage of schemes like the Rashtriya Gokul Mission of the central and state govt. The couple said that during the journey, they held meetings at more than 50 places, where hundreds of people welcomed them. Villagers of Nawabganj and Ajgain also gave the couple a warm welcome. Outpost in-charge Mukul Dubey assured full cooperation and security by police.During the journey, the couple’s food and night stay were arranged with the cooperation of villagers. They appealed to all villages to adopt the slogan, ‘Make cattle conservation a reality’.
