Lucknow: The honorarium paid to contractual drivers and conductors for operating UPSRTC buses in rural areas under the Chief Minister’s Janta Seva Yojana has been increased by 14 paise per kilometre.The hike will come into effect immediately, said transport minister Dayashankar Singh on Friday. Until now, contractual drivers and conductors were paid Rs 2.18 per kilometre. They will now be paid Rs 2.32 per kilometre. This decision will provide financial support to bus operators and related service providers, ensuring regular, safe and smooth bus operations, said the minister. The fare of the Chief Minister Janta Seva buses operating in rural areas is 20% less than that of ordinary buses, due to which passengers are getting the facility of travelling to their destination at a lower fare. A total of 299 buses are being operated by UPSRTC on 395 approved routes in the state.
