Dibrugarh: Union home minister Amit Shah will lay the foundation stone of the state’s second legislative assembly complex on Jan 30 in Dibrugarh, marking a historic milestone in the govt’s vision to develop the city as Assam’s second capital.“The Union home minister will lay the foundation stone of Assam’s second assembly complex at Khanikar in Dibrugarh on Jan 30. He will also address a rally at Khanikar playground, where we expect a gathering of 1 lakh people. Under the direction of CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, I have come to take stock of the preparations,” state water resources minister Pijush Hazarika said while inspecting arrangements for Shah’s visit.“The establishment of the assembly complex is in line with the commitment of CM Himanta Biswa Sarma to develop Dibrugarh as Assam’s second capital. For that, a capital complex or an assembly complex is the first step,” Hazarika said.
