Pune: An IT engineer (34) from the Kesnand area of Wagholi lost over Rs26 lakh in online share-trading fraud.“He was added to a WhatsApp group, where share market investment tips were shared with the assurance of high returns. He transferred Rs26.55 lakh to multiple bank accounts through UPI and bank transfers between Aug and Oct last year. The accused later stopped responding to his calls and messages,” an officer said.The techie lodged a complaint at the Wagholi police station on Wednesday. Senior inspector Sangeeta Devkate of the Cyber police station said citizens continued to fall prey to such frauds despite repeated warnings.
