Varanasi: Tension gripped Pisaur village under Shivpur police station on Monday when hundreds of villagers raided a primary school and tried to attack headmaster for allegedly sexually harassing a class four girl student by showing obscene videos on his mobile phone. DCP, Varuna zone, Pramod Kumar along with a team of the district administration, basic education department and police, camped in Pisaur to pacify the villagers, who were raising the demand for handing over the headmaster to them. Later, the headmaster was taken out of the room where he locked himself from inside amid tight security arrangements. A case was lodged against him on charges of sexual assault and Pocso Act, said officials. During investigation, it came to light that the headmaster sexually harassed the girl by showing an obscene video on Saturday. When the girl informed her family on returning home, the villagers became annoyed and decided to wait for the reopening of the school on Monday. With the reopening of the school, hundreds of villagers raided it and tried to catch the HM, who locked himself inside his office room. Shivpur police reached the spot and tried to convince the villagers to return to their homes. The angry mob, holding garlands of slippers, urged authorities to hand over the accused to them. Basic education officer assured the villagers that, apart from police action, departmental action would also be ensured against the headmaster. Although many villagers left the campus after the assurances, a large number of youths kept waiting to target the headmaster when police took him out of room.Later, police brought the HM out with a helmet on his head and boarded him into a vehicle to take him to police station.
