Jaipur: Remarking that “even 1% of corruption is not being effectively checked”, a single judge bench of Rajasthan high court Thursday expressed serious concern at the delay in investigation and asked anti-corruption bureau (ACB) to submit a progress report on Feb 23 on the probe into alleged irregularities in tenders given over the past 5 years by Rajasthan’s department of information and technology (DoIT).Appearing before the court, deputy inspector general (DIG) of ACB, Anand Sharma, who is heading the special investigation team (SIT) in the case of alleged scams involving crores of rupees in DoIT tenders, sought additional time to complete the investigation. At this, the court asked Sharma to expedite the investigation. Poonam Chand Bhandari, counsel for the petitioner, Dr T N Sharma, informed the court that on Sept 7, 2024, the high court directed ACB to investigate the tenders concerned. “Thereafter, the complainant submitted 27 cases with supporting documents before ACB as well as before the court. However, no effective investigation was carried out. We submitted complete facts with evidence, but ACB is not paying heed to it,” said Bhandari.Bhandari further informed the court, “Only one FIR was registered by ACB on Oct 27, 2025, and even after nearly 4 months, the statement of the complainant was not recorded.”Expressing serious concern over the delay, Justice Ashok Kumar Jain observed that “even one per cent of corruption is not being effectively checked”. The court said adequate time was granted to ACB, but still nothing was done in the case.“Preliminary inquiries be initiated immediately into all complaints submitted by the petitioner, and reports be placed on record,” the court ordered ACB.The court was hearing the revision petition against final report filed by ACB in a special court in a disproportionate assets case involving a then officer of DoIT.
