HC adjourns wazukhana survey hearing till Mar 10 | Prayagraj News

Prayagraj: The Allahabad high court on Tuesday adjourned till March 10 the hearing of the case wherein an ASI survey of the Gyanvapi mosque’s wazukhana area, excluding the structure described by the Hindu side as a Shivling and the Muslim side as a fountain, has been sought.Justice Rohit Ranjan Agarwal passed by the above order on a civil revision petition filed by Rakhi Singh, one of the plaintiffs in the Shringar Gauri worshiping suit before Varanasi court.

The court passed the order as the counsel for parties informed that the matter is engaging the attention of Supreme Court and the next hearing date has been fixed as Feb 10. In view of said fact, hearing of the case may be adjourned.The petitioner was represented by Saurabh Tiwari, the respondent – masjid management committee by senior advocate SFA Naqvi and the state government was represented by additional chief standing counsel Prabhuti Kant Tripathi. The order was passed in a civil revision petition filed by Rakhi Singh, one of the plaintiffs before the Varanasi counter. The revision has been filed challenging the Varanasi district judge order dated Oct 21, 2023, refusing to direct the Archeological Survey of India (ASI) to undertake a survey of the wazukhana area except the ‘Shivling inside the Gyanvapi mosque’ .
