Hyderabad: Telangana high court Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh on Monday announced that the court achieved a 95% disposal rate over the past year. During this period, approximately 79,000 new cases were instituted and 75,419 were disposed of, despite the court operating with 70% of its judicial strength.Addressing the legal fraternity after unfurling the tricolour at the 77th Republic Day celebrations on the high court premises, CJ Singh emphasised investment in judicial infrastructure, terming it an investment in the rule of law and noting that the construction of the new high court complex at Rajendranagar was making good progress. The chief justice also gave an overview of infrastructure development through statewide, Centre and state-sponsored programmes in the judiciary, recruitment, legal awareness camps by Telangana Legal Services Authority, National Lok Adalats, and training judicial officers on mediation. Judges and former judges of the high court, the Supreme Court members of the bar and judicial officers participated in the event.Stating that Republic Day reminds everyone that “justice is not an abstract ideal but a daily pursuit”, the chief justice said the spirit of the Constitution must not remain confined to institutions or courtrooms and must reach every person, community, and household. Tasked with the significant duty of protecting and enforcing the Constitution, the judiciary must remain acutely aware of evolving human aspirations and the complexities of conflicting rights, the CJ added.Calling for the bar and the bench to work as complementary forces, the CJ said that, as the “conscience keeper” of the Constitution, the judiciary carries an onerous responsibility, and this vigilant partnership was essential to fulfilling the collective aspirations of the people. Paying homage to the legacy of the principal architect of the Constitution, Dr B R Ambedkar, and freedom fighters, the CJ said their vision reflects the aspirations of millions for an India founded on justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity. “Baba Sahib trusted that the judiciary stands as the guardian of the Constitution to uphold the sovereign will of the people,” the CJ said. The CJ further expressed gratitude to the judicial officers and members of the bar across the state for their dedication to improving the efficiency of the legal system. He also acknowledged the “hidden and invisible” contributions of staff members across the high court and district judiciary, whose collective efforts remain vital to the preservation of the Constitution and the functioning of the state’s legal machinery.
