Happy ending: 3,379 reunited with families during mela

In the past one and a half months at the Magh Mela, the volunteers of the lost and found camp, popularly known as ‘Bhoole Bhatke Shivir’, on Sunday claimed to have reunited as many as 3,379 people, including 117 children, with their families on the banks of the Ganga. Organiser of Bhoole Bhatke Shivir, Umesh Tiwari, said, “The volunteers reunited as many as 3,379 people, including 1,942 men, 1,320 women and 117 children, at the Magh Mela between Jan 1 and Feb 15.” Most of the lost or missing persons reunited with their families during the period were from eastern UP districts. Around 72% of the people who were reunited were 55 to 90 years old. Tiwari, meanwhile, said, “We maintained the data of missing, lost and reunited persons, both manually and digitally.”
