On Saturday evening, Kiran asked his mother for a white sheet of paper and a pen, purportedly to write down details of some financial transactions. As he failed to come out of his room for a long time, the family grew anxious. His elder brother forced open his room door and found him hanging, police said.According to his family, Kiran had been deeply disturbed for the past two weeks after the woman informed him of her engagement and allegedly showed him her wedding invitation and a sari purchased for the ceremony. He had planned to celebrate Valentine’s Day with her and give her a gift, his kin claimed.Police recovered the handwritten note from his room. Aside from naming the woman and her mother, Kiran had written down the password to his mobile phone in the note. The family alleged that he had spent much of his earnings on clearing the woman’s loan and had introduced her to them as his future wife. After autopsy, the body was handed over to Kiran’s family. Police have registered a case under BNS Section 108 for abetment to suicide. A senior officer said the woman named in the note admitted to having a past relationship with Kiran but claimed it ended six months ago. She denied meeting Kiran recently, showing any invitation, or accepting money from him.(If you are having suicidal thoughts or need emotional support, call suicide prevention helplines: Tele-Manas: 14416 or 1800-891-4416, SAHAI: 080-25497777)
