Gurgaon: MCG has decided to set up a sanitation monitoring cell in each of the city’s zones. The cells will be led by joint commissioners, who will ensure daily monitoring of sanitation work in their area.The decision was taken at a review meeting chaired by MCG commissioner Pradeep Dahiya on Friday. “The cells will conduct surveys to assess the status of sanitation in their areas. They will regularly monitor the attendance of sanitation workers, their working methods and if deployment of sanitation vehicles is being made as per needs,” Dahiya said, adding that the work of assistant sanitary inspectors will also be reviewed to fix accountability at the field level and improve performance.
Further, the cell will ensure timely removal of waste from garbage vulnerable points across the city. “Garbage should not be left unattended for long, as it affects cleanliness and public health. The cell will check if the work is being carried out as per prescribed standards,” Dahiya said. The cell will also ensure complaints received from residents are addressed promptly, and action taken against littering, illegal dumping and violations of cleanliness rules. “With the formation of the cell, there will be improvement in the cleanliness system, regular review of works will happen and citizens will get better services,” the civic chief said.At the meeting, officials were directed to implement the system with immediate effect and submit daily progress reports.
