Gandhinagar: Gujarat’s tableau, based on the theme ‘Swatantrata ka Mantra: Vande Mataram’, secured first place in the ‘Popular Choice Award’ category at the 77th Republic Day national parade held at Kartavya Path in Delhi on Jan 26. Gujarat won the award for the fourth consecutive year.The award will be presented to Gujarat at the closing ceremony of the Republic Day events at the National Stadium in New Delhi on Jan 30, govt said in an official statement on Thursday.“It is a matter of great joy that Gujarat’s tableau created history by securing 1st rank in the ‘Popular Choice Award’ category for the 4th consecutive year. The tableau from Gujarat, highlighting the contribution of the state’s freedom fighters along with patriotism, was highly appreciated by the people,” minister Bhupendra Patel posted on X.An official statement said voting for the best tableau was conducted on the MyGov portal, and Gujarat’s tableau won 43% of the total votes polled in the ‘Popular Choice Award’.The state’s tableau, presented by the information department, depicted the journey of the ‘Swadeshi Mantra’ for self-reliance, from the revolution for freedom to the ‘Swadeshi’ mantra.
