Governor Emphasizes Heritage Preservation During Visit to Safa Masjid | Goa News

Panaji: Goa governor Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju on Sunday visited the ASI-protected Safa Masjid at Ponda. “The ASI is preserving these monuments so that people do not lose sight of the heritage we must cherish,” Raju said.Built in 1560 by Ibrahim Adil Shah I of Bijapur, Safa Masjid has a laterite stone prayer hall and a large water tank. Raju said Goa’s culture teaches harmonious living, learning from history and not repeating past mistakes. “This human approach helps mankind live in harmony. We must take this forward.” The governor added that unless people learn from history, global tensions cannot be overcome. Safa Masjid committee president Murtuza Mulla said the structure requires repainting and installation of CCTV cameras is pending. He added that a meeting with ASI, Goa Circle, was sought to address these concerns and expedite the necessary works.
