Goods train derails at Rupsa

Bhubaneswar: A goods train derailed at Rupsa junction station in Balasore district around 9:35 am on Friday, briefly disrupting rail movement on one track before services were restored, railway officials said.The incident took place when the freight train was moving from Rupsa junction siding towards the main station. The train had earlier unloaded cement and fertiliser at Rupsa junction and was departing for Kharagpur, officials said.Officials said other lines at the station were kept open to manage train movement during restoration work. Railway sources said movement on the affected track resumed by 1.30 pm after the track was restored by railway staff of Kharagpur division. Rupsa junction comes under Kharagpur division of south-eastern railway (SER).No injuries were reported and there was no immediate information of damage to railway property beyond the derailed wagons. Railway authorities have started an inquiry to determine the cause of derailment.
