Porvorim: Chief minister Pramod Sawant told the assembly on Friday that a khazan board will come into force within two months. The board will comprise senior scale officers and talathis as members.The House was informed of measures taken by govt after concerns were raised during discussion on a private member’s resolution moved by AAP MLA Cruz Silva, seeking revision of the Goa Agricultural Tenancy (Discharge of Joint Responsibility of Tenants) Act and rules to fix responsibility for protecting khazans.MLA Viresh Borkar welcomed the move, saying farmers on the board will help preserve khazans and address problems. Silva said amendments are needed to ensure transparency. “This is necessary to ensure that filling and flooding of khazan land is prevented, and action is taken against offenders.” in Goa.
