Goa police launch intelligence centre for quick investigations

Panaji: To strengthen intelligence-led policing and speed up investigations, Goa Police on Tuesday made the intelligence fusion centre functional at the crime branch.Chief minister Pramod Sawant launched two initiatives, the e-zero FIR module for cyber financial fraud cases and the Prism (proactive risk identification & surveillance mechanism) intelligence fusion centre at a state-level conference to disseminate outcomes of the DGs and IGPs Conference 2025 chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The centre will provide technical support and critical intelligence inputs to police stations, reducing time spent in the initial stages of investigations and enabling quicker identification and arrest of accused persons. Director general of police Alok Kumar said it will collect and analyse data on inter-state criminals, active criminal elements and organised gangs operating in or targeting Goa.Its objectives include fast-tracking investigations, expanding use of analytical tools and continuous monitoring of criminals through data-driven processes, generating actionable intelligence for investigating officers across police stations statewide efficiently.The e-zero FIR mechanism aims to give immediate relief to victims of cyber financial fraud.Victims can lodge complaints through the 1930 cyber crime helpline. For fraud exceeding Rs 1 lakh, complaints are automatically converted into e-FIRs at the cyber police station. Cases above Rs 5 lakh will be investigated by the cyber police station, while lower-value cases will be handled by local police with technical support.
