1 key project planned per constituency under scheme

Panaji: On average, one crematorium, community hall, and small footpath work would be taken up in all 40 constituencies under Goa Gram Samruddhi Yojana (GGSY). State govt decided to increase the allocation of funds to the scheme to take up priority works recommended by respective MLAs.Chief minister Pramod Sawant chaired a detailed review meeting of 131 project proposals submitted under GGSY by the department of rural development. Sawant said that the comprehensive review aimed to ensure that the benefits of development reach every corner of our beloved Goa.Sawant directed the department that equal allocation of projects should be executed in each and every constituency.“Priority will be given to works recommended by MLAs from all 40 assembly constituencies, ensuring that at least one project is executed in every constituency under the scheme,” Sawant said.The chief minister said that govt will enhance financial support and provide additional funds, over and above the existing Rs 20 crore allocation, in the upcoming financial year to enable effective implementation of public infrastructure and community development works proposed under the scheme.
