GMC to start online bookings for OPD visits

Panaji: GMC will, for the first time, introduce an online appointment booking facility for patients. Health minister Vishwajit Rane said on Wednesday that online appointments will initially be available for the medicine, surgery, skin, ENT and orthopaedics OPDs. The move aims to reduce long queues, optimise waiting time and help patients plan their hospital visits better. Patients can book appointments through the GMC official website or the patient portal provided by Hunnarvi Technologies. Users will authenticate using their mobile number, complete a simple registration if they are first-time users, and select the department, date and available time slot.In the initial phase, a maximum of 100 online appointment slots per day will be available from Monday to Saturday for the five departments. These will be distributed across three slots, 10am to 11am, 11am to 12pm, and 12pm to 1pm, with around 33 bookings per slot.Officials said the system is not exclusively online and walk-in patients will continue. Online bookings will be open for the next seven days, with daily bookings closing at 5pm the preceding day. Any unfilled online slots will be added to the walk-in quota.
