Girls made victims of lust, peon arrested

Pune: A 55 -year -old peon has been arrested in the case of rape from two girl students in Pune, Maharashtra. Accused Ramesh Dagdu Sathe allegedly raped two 11-year-old girls at the child shelter home located in Ved-Bahi, Vagholi. The incident on June 7 came to light when the victims told everything in front of the management of the shelter home.

According to Lonikand police, Sathe tied the hands of both the minors, put a cloth in their mouths and then sexually assaulted them. He also threatened to kill the children for informing someone about the incident. The case was initially registered at Ghodgaon police station, but later it was shifted to Lonikand police station and a case was registered under the Protection of Children (POCSO) Act with sexual offenses.

The manager of the Sahyadri tribal rural development establishment, who operates the shelter home, saw the trouble of children and lack of hunger. Gradually, the victims revealed the harassment, after which the manager informed the officials. On the orders of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), the children sent to the shelter home have been advised to deal with their trauma. Deputy Commissioner of Police Himmat Jadhav confirmed the arrest and said that investigation is going on.
