Ghaziabad DM to monitor feed from public hearings

Ghaziabad: Public hearings conducted by district-level officials will now be live-monitored at the district magistrate’s office. After a state directive was issued earlier this week, proceedings of district magistrates and high-level police officers across the state are now being monitored live by the office of chief minister Yogi Adityanath. DM Ravinder Mander has decided to take the initiative down to the district level. “Public hearings conducted by district-level officers will also be linked through live connectivity to the office. All officers have been directed to hear public grievances on working days between 10am and 12 noon and ensure that they are resolved. Any laxity will invite accountability,” DM Ravindra Mander said on Friday. He has asked departments to put necessary technical arrangements in place at the earliest. The move is aimed at ensuring prompt disposal of grievances and fixing responsibility in case of delay or absence from hearings. The announcement came during the weekly Janata Darshan at the Collectorate, where the DM heard complaints related to the revenue department, GDA, municipal corporation, electricity, health, construction and other departments. He directed officials to ensure time-bound and quality disposal of cases, particularly land disputes. which must be addressed through joint spot inspections by police and revenue teams.“Every day, I get complaints from people that a certain official is not responding to their grievances. Through live monitoring, I will check with the officials on the spot and hold them accountable if the public grievance is not being heard. Through this, we will also be able to ensure officials are at their workplace on time and are not lax in conducting public hearings,” Mander told this newspaper.
