Bengaluru: Greater Bengaluru Authority’s (GBA) climate action cell is carrying out multi-stakeholder interactions for its Ward Climate Action Plan (WCAP) this week.An interaction with GBA’s climate experts was held Wednesday at Vijinapura ward (Bengaluru East city corporation limits), for residents, civil society groups and students. The next multi-stakeholder interactions, from 11am to 5pm, are planned at Jakkur (Thursday), Begur (Friday) and Nalvadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar ward (Marappanapalya) Saturday.WCAP is part of GBA’s Bengaluru Climate Action and Resilience Plan (BCAP). Initially, climate fellows undertake a mapping exercise of each ward, during which they identify ward-specific climate hazards such as flooding and heat stress. They assess the ward against parameters such as waste, water, mobility, energy and public spaces. These reports will be presented to the public during multi-stakeholder interactions.Task force for road-widening worksThe five city corporations will establish a task force each to oversee road-widening works, which have been intensified in the run-up to civic polls.The modalities and specific duties of the task force will be spelt out soon. The GBA chief commissioner said another task force will be set up to check unauthorised constructions in the city.
