Gang hacks history-sheeter to death in drunken brawl in Tiruvallur

Chennai: Four people were arrested for murdering a 26-year-old history-sheeter in Tiruvallur district on Tuesday night. According to police sources, the accused were identified as Sivakumar, Deena, Perarasu and Thiyagarajan, all residents of Thandumanagar.On Tuesday night, the four reportedly consumed alcohol with the victim, Gokul, at an open vacant ground in Thandumanagar. A verbal altercation broke out between Gokul and the others, which resulted in a violent clash.

Police said the four men attacked Gokul with a sickle, killing him on the spot. They abandoned the body and fled the scene. Passers-by who noticed the body alerted the police. Police rushed to the spot, recovered the body and sent it to a govt hospital for postmortem. Based on preliminary inquiry, police traced and detained the four accused. They were later arrested. Further investigation is under way. TNN
