Panchkula: As part of preparations for Republic Day celebrations, a full dress rehearsal for the main function scheduled on Jan 26 was held at the Sector-5 Parade Ground in Panchkula Sunday. During the rehearsal, departments carried out final practice of their assigned programmes and reviewed overall preparedness for the national event.Police commissioner Sibash Kabiraj unfurled the national flag, inspected the parade and took the salute during the marchpast. Haryana Police personnel displayed discipline and coordination during the parade.The rehearsal also featured a daredevil motorcycle show by Haryana Police personnel. Arms drill, mass PT, yoga, Surya Namaskar and other physical and discipline-based performances were also presented.All participants rehearsed the programmes in full uniform, strictly following the sequence planned for the main Republic Day function. The police commissioner reviewed each item and directed officials to ensure proper coordination, timely execution and foolproof security arrangements so that the main event is conducted with dignity and decorum.Officials said Haryana Governor Prof Ashim Kumar Ghosh will be the chief guest at the R-Day function at the Sector-5 Parade Ground. Freedom fighters and war widows will be honoured on the occasion, besides officers and employees being recognised for outstanding service. The celebrations will also feature tableaux highlighting various welfare schemes and patriotic cultural performances by schoolkids. tnn
