Lucknow: To mark its 151st Foundation Day, the regional meteorological centre will open its doors to the public for a day-long outreach programme on Wednesday, offering insights into the functioning of the weather department. The IMD, set up on Jan 15, 1875, provides weather services across the country. The Lucknow centre will host an open house at its campus at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport from 11am to 4pm. Visitors, including students, farmers, researchers and media representatives, will be given a walkthrough of the forecasting infrastructure and the equipment used to monitor weather conditions. Senior scientist, IMD, Mohammad Danish said, “The open house will make people aware of how weather services work and how they can use forecasts and warnings in daily life and planning.”
