Kanpur: Four people of a family, including a two-year-old boy, died after a van fell into a pond near Bairi village in Shivli town in Kanpur Dehat late Friday, police said.The accident occurred when the driver, Raj Kumar, lost control of the steering, The uncontrolled vehicle plunged into a pond near Bairi Sawai village in Shivli, Kanpur Dehat. Some passers-by alerted the police after which the police team reached the spot and pulled out the victims trapped in the vehicle with the help of villagers.According to police, Rajkishore of Kanpur Kalyanpur had gone to attend religious ceremony at a relative’s place in Sahayal Auraiya. On Friday evening, he was returning with family members when the accident took place.Rajkishor Agnihotri (60), his wife Snehlata Agnihotri (55), their daughter-in-law Himanshi (35) and her son Shiv (2) died on the spot.Vani (3), daughter of Ankur, Kanha (4), son of Sanjay, and Sudhanshu (24), son of Raj Kishore were injured.SP Shraddha Narendra Pandey said four people died due to drowning. “Injured are undergoing treatment. Driver Rajkumar has not been found, search for him is underway,” said the SP further.
