Kanpur: The 77th Republic Day was celebrated with great fervour and patriotic enthusiasm across the city on Sunday. The Tricolour was unfurled at government offices, educational institutions, and various establishments, marking the occasion with solemn ceremonies and cultural programmes.Divisional commissioner K Vijayendra Pandian hoisted the national flag at his office and extended greetings to the participants. Addressing officials, he stressed the need to discharge duties with honesty and integrity in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution. He said that every responsibility entrusted to officials must be carried out with devotion while upholding the dignity of their respective positions.DM Jitendra Prasad Singh unfurled the Tricolour at Kanpur Collectorate in the presence of district officials and employees. A pledge was taken to act with honesty and integrity as enshrined in the Constitution. The DM also honoured the kin of freedom fighters.The district judge, Kanpur Nagar, hoisted the national flag at the court premises. Similar ceremonies were held at Kanpur Development Authority, where vice-chairman Madan Singh Garbyal unfurled the flag, and at the KMC, where mayor Pramila Pandey hoisted the Tricolour in the presence of officials and staff. Minister Nand Gopal Gupta ‘Nandi’ unfurled the national flag at the Police Lines. Police personnel presented a guard of honour and saluted the Tricolour with gunfireThe minister urged the police officials to adhere to constitutional values and perform their duties with honesty. He also felicitated police personnel who received the President’s medal, as well as gold and silver medals for meritorious service. At Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University, VC Prof Vinay Pathak hoisted the national flag, which was unfurled using a drone at the administrative building. Students presented a tableau on the theme of ‘Operation Sindoor’, dressed as Army personnel, and displayed replicas of missiles. The IIIT-Kanpur celebrated the Republic Day in Kanpur with enthusiasm. The programme began with the hoisting of the national flag by IIT-Kanpur director Prof Manindra Agrawal, followed by a parade and Guard of Honour symbolising discipline, unity and respect for the country’s democratic values. At Gliders India Ltd headquarters at GT Road, CMD M C Balasubramaniam hoisted the national flag and said for progress, we all should perform our duties with dedication and unity.
