Five tourists held for traffic dispute with off-duty cop

Mapusa: Mapusa police arrested five tourists from Hassan, Karnataka, following a heated confrontation with an off-duty IRB police constable over a traffic dispute near Hutatma Chowk in Mapusa.The arrested accused are identified as Anil Rajan Gowda, 33, Manu Range Gowda, 30, Naveen Swami Gowda, 31, Sagar Range Gowda, 25, and Avinash Swami Gowda, 28.

The incident unfolded while IRB constable Connie Mascarenhas was driving to Colvale, his duty post. While they were stuck in a traffic jam, the tourists came out of their vehicle, banged on the constable’s windows, and forcibly snatched his car keys after a verbal altercation. The bystanders then intervened and forced the tourists to return the keys to the constable.Mapusa police were called who detained the tourists.
