Prayagraj: Phaphamau police on Friday detained five persons, including four women, for their alleged role in the kidnapping of a minor girl and the illegal extraction of her ova with the help of forged documents at a local IVF centre. DCP (Ganganagar) Kuldeep Singh told TOI that a Phaphamau resident lodged an FIR at the Phaphamau police station against five persons, including Palak Hela and her mother Rinki, residents of Kareli, and others, for kidnapping her 15-year-old daughter and facilitating the illegal ova extraction. After registering the FIR under appropriate sections on Friday, police conducted a detailed investigation and said that the victim’s mother admitted the girl to a one-stop centre on Feb 3, where her statement was recorded before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC). The victim stated that she had visited a local IVF centre along with Palak, where the ova extraction procedure was carried out. Police said that Palak and her mother allegedly lured the victim into becoming an IVF donor in exchange for money. After the minor agreed, Palak and her mother took her to one Seema Bharatiya, where, along with others, they allegedly prepared forged documents, including a fake Aadhaar card. The forged documents falsely showed the minor as an adult and married. Police further said that Seema took the victim to a registered agent of the IVF centre, where a fake consent affidavit was prepared. On Jan 20, using the forged documents, the accused allegedly managed to get the ova extraction carried out at the IVF centre. After detaining all five prime accused, police are questioning them extensively to ascertain further details related to the incident.
