Lucknow: A wave of energy and enthusiasm swept through the city on Sunday morning as thousands of fitness enthusiasts participated in the Eldeco Times Half Marathon, organised by The Times of India and Navbharat Times.The marathon featured 3 km, 5 km, 10 km and 21 km races under the theme ‘Run for Health’. Runners from diverse age groups turned up in large numbers, braving the weather to promote fitness and a healthy lifestyle.Rajneesh Kumar and Jaideep Bhivaji Hande emerged winners in their respective age groups, clocking impressive timings. However, senior citizens stole the spotlight with their spirited participation, reinforcing that age is no barrier. In the 61+ category, Rajendra Hardaha finished first, followed by Colonel Rajiv Kumar and Narendra Kumar. Among other results, Saurabh Baluni and Lucky clinched the top spots in the 10 km male and female categories, respectively.Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak felicitated the winners and emphasised the benefits of rising early and staying connected with nature. He noted that the morning air acts as a natural remedy for several ailments. Sports and youth welfare secretary Suhas LY praised the initiative and urged people to make fitness a daily habit rather than an occasional effort.
