During the hearing of the matter, the HC was informed that two shooters involved in the incident have been identified, though they have not been arrested so far. The DGP, however, sought additional time to investigate the matter further and submit a detailed report. The court observed that while two other accused persons have been arrested, no progress has been made in securing the shooters even months after the incident. The bench also took serious note of another incident involving alleged police misconduct within the premises of the District Court, Mohali. According to the order, on July 6, 2025, a police officer allegedly manhandled and assaulted a chowkidar (court employee) on duty, forcibly entered the court premises after snatching the keys, and violated court security. The incident was captured on CCTV footage. The bench further recorded that despite a formal complaint being submitted by the additional chief judicial magistrate (ACJM) on July 11, 2025, no FIR was registered initially. Subsequently, the chief judicial magistrate (CJM) ordered registration of an FIR on July 30, 2025, following which FIR No. 197 dated July 31, 2025, was lodged. However, the court observed that no substantive action has been taken in the matter even after the lapse of six months.
