Fireman found dead in Greater Noida barracks

Noida: A fireman, posted at the Knowledge Park fire station, allegedly died by suicide on Wednesday. Police said Sandeep Kumar (35) from Halalpur village in Baghpat district was found hanging inside his barracks, built for fire personnel, on the second floor of the station, which also houses the DCP office.According to police, Sandeep, who belonged to the 2016 batch, was preparing for civil services examinations. Around 6am, when he did not report for duty, fellow fire personnel went to check on him. After they found him dead inside his room, they informed police, who sent the body for autopsy. No suicide note was recovered from the scene. A preliminary investigation suggested that the fireman was under mental stress for some time, though the exact reason behind the extreme step is yet to be ascertained. He was unmarried and had suffered personal losses in recent years. His father passed away in 2018, while his mother died in 2024. Officials believe these circumstances may have contributed to his mental condition, though no conclusion was drawn so far.
