FIR on foreigner for smuggling gold worth Rs 2 crore at Mumbai airport

Mumbai: With the prices of gold touching Rs 2 lakhs, an Omani national was caught by Customs for smuggling 1.5 kg of gold worth Rs 2.4 crore at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Terminals, Mumbai on Friday.Based on the digital profiling the Air Intelligence Unit of Customs detained Haithram Anwar Moosa Balushi who arrived from Muscat by Oman airlines. The officials examined his baggage containing one rectangle wrapped in black coloured adhesive tape containing 24-karat gold dust weighing 1,550 grams worth Rs 2.4 crore. He was booked under various provisions of Customs Act and was produced before court which remanded him to judicial custody.
