Lucknow: A day after a 34-year-old motorcyclist bled to death with his throat slashed by a sharp nylon kite string on the Haiderganj overbridge, Khala Bazaar police on Thursday registered an FIR on the complaint of his wife, Fauzia formally initiating a criminal probe into the incident.The deceased, Mohammad Shoaib, a resident of Dubagga, was on his way to work around 3pm on Feb 4 when the accident occurred.
According to the FIR, an unidentified person was flying a kite in the Haiderganj bridge area, and the nylon string suddenly got entangled around Shoaib’s neck while he was riding his motorcycle (UP32 MD 9460). The sharp string cut into his neck, causing him to lose balance and fall from the bike.He was rushed to KGMU trauma centre, where doctors declared him brought dead due to excessive blood loss after vital neck vessels were severed.In her complaint, Shoaib’s wife stated that the family was in shock following the sudden death, which led to a delay in approaching the police.DCP of west zone, Vishwajeet Srivastava said that police registered an FIR under charges of BNS 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) against unidentified person and sub-inspector Shivanand has been assigned as the investigating officer. An inquest has been conducted, and the body was sent for post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death.“This is a serious incident. Investigation has been taken up, and efforts are on to identify the person responsible for flying the banned nylon kite string,” said Srivastava.
